What SKCE teaches
SKCE is dedicated to traditional Shotokan Karate which is the most widespread and popular Japanese style of the art. It is a fast and dynamic style which uses quick body-shifting to evade opponents and launch attacks. It is known for its powerful punching but also employs spectacular kicks, open-hand, elbow and knee techniques. Throwing, leg-sweeping, locking and controlling are taught as well. Shotokan is an effective system of self-defence including against knife attack and multiple assailants.
The instructors
A qualified committee of senior, up to 7th Dan Black Belt instructors oversees all teaching and training. All have studied karate for over 40 years. SKCE instructors are CRB checked and insured. All are experienced in teaching children as well as adults. SKCE has a child safety policy, members’ insurance and issues training licences.
Want to join us?
You’re most welcome to come along anytime to our clubs and see a training session for yourself and talk to our instructors. Or just come along and join in. You just need yourself and loose-fitting clothes. (You only need a karate training suit later, if you start training regularly.)
Contact any instructor at your nearest location. For details, see our club locator.
