Brown and Black Belt Course and Dan Grading – 1 December 2024

On Sunday 1st December 2024, SKCE held a Brown & Black belt course and grading at Willesden Sports Centre.
The first hour was full of enthusiastic Brown belts, mainly 1st Kyu’s, followed by another session for seasoned Black belts, all of whom had trained consistently and diligently to attempt a grading later in the day.
The course was run by Senseis Sue, Duy Janita, Lauren, Vinny and David with students closely copying the instructors, then being scrutinised and sometimes corrected and perfected when they performed by themselves.

All Gradings are nerve-wracking and all the students were clearly capable of succeeding so we tried to instill confidence and calm and to encourage everyone to demonstrate their karate knowledge.
PS A special acknowledgement and thanks to Sensei Duy, whose exquisite and patient demonstration of Kata allowed Dan grade students to copy and take inspiration from in their grading.

The examining panel consisted of:
Senseis Eric, Phil, Glen, Sue, Janita, Nehal, Matthew, Kulwant and Rona.
A big thank you to the Willoughbys, our administration team and the dedicated support staff.

Commiserations to those who were not able to reach the requisite technical standard this time.

Congratulations to all those who passed their Dan Gradings :-
