After due deliberation it has been decided to change the 5th dan and above grading examination requirements.  This is in order to bring SKCE in line with other major Shotokan associations worldwide.

In future only candidates who have been approved by the Chairman and Chief Instructor will be invited to attend a detailed grading and technical assessment.  Those chosen will be expected to meet all the criteria and attributes necessary to uphold the true principles of Shotokan Karate and have a proven record of commitment over the requisite period of time.

Public gradings will in future only be permitted up to and including 4th Dan held at one of the special SKCE dan gradings throughout the year.

Congratulations to Glenn Allcoat the first recipient of this award on Sunday  27th October 2019.

Glenn has been training with the Wellingborough club since 1974, initially under instructor Mick Grey (deceased) and subsequently Gerry Grey.

Our congratulations to Glenn on his achievement and thanks for the help he has given over the past 40+ years to develop the Anglia group of clubs.
